One of the Wilson's best-selling performance tennis racquets, the new Blade 98 is the ideal option available for serious competitors who place a premium on feel and control for every position on the court. Its midplus 98 sq in head, mid-level weight and maneuverable balance point makes it a versatile racquet, which is why baseliners, serve and volleyers, and all-court players on the pro tour have chosen the Blade. The addition of BLX technology takes the BLX Blade 98 to a new level of feel.
During our play tests, we found that the BLX Blade 98 felt a little heavier than its predecessor. The balance point has shifted slightly from 3 pts head light to 2 pts head light, but it almost feels head heavy. We felt that it was somewhat reminiscent of the old Wilson Hammers (but much heavier). The BLX Blade 98's solid, weighty lets you power through pretty much anything, but you need either a lot of strength or early preparation and anticipation to maneuver it quickly. This is definitely geared towards more advanced players who are comfortable with racquets in this weight class, as it offers a lot of control with the prerequisite that you provide the racquet head speed.

Good power and soft feel Review by Brian
Quality The Blade has good power, has a softer feel than the Six One series. The demo racket's grip was a bit smaller than I prefer. It seemed to be a little more forgiving than the Six One because you could take more lazy swings and the racket could generate some of its own pace. The spin and control seemed decent. I preferred the Six One 95 although the two seemed close. (Posted on 5/10/11)
