Now available in pink, the Wilson BLX Blade Lite is a new entry into the Wilson Blade family of racquets. Not surprisingly, it's the lightest racquet of the bunch at 10.2 oz strung, and it's designed for players with a shorter, slower backswing. However, it doesn't have the largest head size in the family-- it's 4 square inches smaller than the Blade Team. And unlike many racquets in this weight range, it's head light, lending to more maneuverability. It also features a more closed string pattern (16x20), making this a truly unique frame in the 'tweener category. During our play tests, we found that on shorter swings, it provides significantly more pop than the other BLX Blades. Maneuverability generally felt very good, allowing us to get away with less shot preparation when in a jam. On faster swings, we lost some precision, and the ball tended to spray well long unless it was struck precisely in the sweet spot. So while developing players should give this one a try, more advanced players need not apply. The Blade Lite has less pop and more control compared to other similarly weighted racquets, so we believe this frame is ideal for developing players who don't hit with a lot of pace yet.
